Hey There

This is the beginning of my story. I have no idea where it ends. Since I have no idea what else to say here is a quote from Thomas Edison:

"To have a great idea, have a lot of them."

All About Me

It all started with a stuffed beaver, a plastic can holder, and a little girl with a wild imagination. She met the stuffed beaver on her fourth birthday along with several other little woodland animals. What's with the plastic can holder, you ask? Well, those were his flying shoes. He was a HERO!!

He would fly in to save the little woodland animals from sure death as they tried to cross the street in front of horrifying metal beasts the humans called cars. The superhero beaver would build the little animals new homes when humans would destroy theirs to build a swimming pool. Then the little animals would hold parades honoring the Super Beaver! They would line up and chant his name, “Smiley! Smiley! Smileeey!!!” You see, he was always smiling so that’s what they called him.

The little girl, Deborah, was the only human allowed to come to these parades. She and Smiley were best friends. In fact, they still are. As Deborah and Smiley grew up together, they had many adventures together, from camping in the forest to pillow forts in Deborah's room. In fact, it was a discussion with Smiley late one night in the pillow fort when Deborah realized fairy dust and sand from the sandman were the same thing. Smiley called it moon dust because it’s where dreams are formed.

Deborah was fascinated by this because she always had wild and crazy dreams. As she got older she understood moon dust helped the hitchhiker ride the galaxy and Native Americans called it moon walking, and you could even let it carry you right into the twilight zone!

Of course other people call it different things, which is why we have the sandman and fairy dust variations, but its all part of the imagination. Some people, such as palm readers, spirit guides and Wicca, will say it’s real; and, of course, we don’t doubt them! Yet, we all know you can’t have any of those things without imagination. How else could we come up with such magical ideas? Even children, like little Deborah understand….that’s why we call it make believe.

By the way, I’m Deborah and I would like to welcome you to my world of make believe where the moon dust creates incredible dreams and stories, poetry and photography. Smiley is still around, though he is mostly retired from his role as Super Beaver, he goes on writing retreats and photography trips with me. He is friends now with my dog, cats and children. He helps me flush out story ideas and let’s me know when my endings are stupid. I expect he will be around to the end of my days, always my comfort and friend. Though I'm not a little girl anymore, Smiley is still the beginning and end of my inspiration and we hope you enjoy the time you are here.
